Affirmative Contracting recommends that you regularly clear your catch basin grating of leaves and debris  so it does not inhibit drainage.  Once the debris starts to collect at the bottom of the basin it's time to call us for your next service.

What not to flush!

Home owners wanting to take good care of their septic system should make note of the following items that should never be flushed down the toilet:

Coffee grounds, hair combings, dental floss, diapers, kitty litter, sanitary napkins, tampons, cigarette buts, condoms, bandages, cooking fat, grease or oil.  Never flush chemicals such as paints, thinners, bleach & drain cleaners.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY SEPTIC TANK PUMPED?

-The frequency of pumpouts will depend on the size of your system, the number of people in the house and the habits of these individuals. A general rule is once every 3 - 5 years.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN MY TOILET BUBBLES AFTER FLUSHING?

-Bubbles after flushing is a definite sign you need to get your septic tank pumped.

WHY CAN I SMELL MY SEPTIC TANK OUTSIDE?

-If you have bad smells coming from your septic tank this could be a sign of a  possible problem.  It is recommended to call for service.
